About Me

Born and raised in Baltimore City and developed a love for technology and science due to my experiences in my youth. As the oldest of four siblings, I'm inclined to take care of others and eventually began mentoring and teaching adults on topics such as technology, professionalism, and how to start a business. I'm currently the CEO and Owner of NTC Tech Consultancy, LLC, a Microsoft Cloud Solution Partner that focuses on deploying technology solutions to modernize organizations' collaboration tech and skills, using Microsoft Technology and related 3rd party solutions. I have a bachelor’s in computer science, a Master’s in IT Project Management, and are a CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer. I've started in the IT industry in 2001 as an application developer and have since gained experience in SharePoint development, Office 365, Power Platform, Microsoft licensing, and entrepreneurship. I have also served in leadership positions in the tech community, such as the President of SharePoint User Group of DC and board member of the IAMCP DC chapter, Seattle, and BCPA. Additionally, I have been a member of Microsoft's Partner Engagement Board for Microsoft Inspire, one of Microsoft's largest conferences.

Entrepreneurship and Executive Skills

When I decided to start a business in 2012, I did so as a techie with some networking and consultant skills but little else. I have learned so much on the fly and over time on marketing, salesmanship, finances, executive communication, and so much more. I constantly worked to refine those skills and learn more which lead to my business being open for more than 6 years until I decided to sell. Then I joined Microsoft at the corporate Redmond campus and learned so much more about the inner working of Microsoft! As I embark on this new company ownership adventure, I am using my skills to improve work lives!

My Professional Experience

I have been in the IT industry since 2001 in many different roles. I have been a government employee, a developer, a government contractor, and a consultant. I have worked with and for all sizes or businesses with experiences in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors.

I started have started and ran two Microsoft Partner tech businesses, sold one of those businesses, been a Microsoft MVP (which I will obtain again!), worked at Microsoft Corp leading a global teams of highly technical architects, served on multiple boards (which I am about to do again!), published tech vlogs, blogs, books and videos, have been active in the tech community (which I am also starting up again!), and established a well-known, personal brand that still holds true to today. And the journey continues...

Political Advocacy

As a member of the technical community and as former member (soon to be member again!) of Microsoft's Voices for Innovation (VFI), I believe that helping to shape policy in the US is key to moving our country forward and to helping all people as well as the tech industry thrive. VFI is a Microsoft supported community of technology professionals and everyday Americans who help advance technology, IT job growth, and businesses of all sizes. As empowered citizen advocates, we work together to shape public policies for our 21st century digital economy and society.

Some of the Things People Say About Me

Tim Russell, Modern Work Cloud Solutions Architect, Microsoft
"I had the pleasure of working with Nikkia for 2 years while employed at Microsoft, and I can confidently say that she is one of the most passionate and driven individuals I've had the privilege of working with. She was a vocal and communicative supporter of racial equality, consistently advocating for the inclusion and support of all teams globally.
Nikkia was not only a highly skilled and efficient team member, but also a friendly and helpful one. She often extended her worked hours to ensure that every team member was included and supported and went above and beyond to make sure that everyone had the resources and tools they needed to succeed."
"I highly recommend Nikkia for any professional opportunity, as she brings a level of dedication and passion to everything, she does that is truly unmatched. She is an asset to any team and a true champion of equality and inclusivity."
Rekha Narang, Director, Partner Technology, Microsoft
"I've had the pleasure of working with Nikki over the last few years and was inspired in how she rose up to challenges when the scope of her role expanded significantly. Working with leaders across the globe to drive impact, facilitate knowledge sharing and land consistent execution in different markets is no easy task and Nikki led this with great care."

"In the global hackathon we collaborated on I was able to witness her leadership skills firsthand. In addition to her core responsibilities, Nikki has led valuable diversity and inclusion initiatives to raise awareness and make lasting change in our organization."
Dan Rey, MSFT MVP in Microsoft 365 Apps & Services
"Nikkia and I met in person at a Chicago SharePoint Saturday (my first) and she was one of many presenters I connected with, but she was willing to be one of Microsoft Midwest Toastmasters guests and always willing to help. Her community contributions were the other thing that stood out to me."

"Super passionate, knowledgeable and willing to share her knowledge sums up Nikkia for me and I hope we work together in the future!"
